THIS MONTH... "9 to 5: The Musical"

Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company (BFLOC) are set to premier ‘9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL’ at the Grand Theatre this year.
The show comes hot on the heels of sell-out runs of Grease, Legally Blonde and Hairspray over the past two years and sees one of the Fylde Coast’s longest running companies bring together another hugely talented cast of local performers.
Based on the Oscar nominated film of the same name and set in the late 70s the show is a story of friendship and revenge that is laugh-out-loud funny.
9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL runs Wednesday May 31 to Saturday June 3 2017. Tickets are on sale now from £17.50 with family tickets at £60 from or 01253 290190.
Phil Chapman, Chairperson of BFLOC said: “We’re delighted to have secured the Blackpool premier of 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL and can’t wait to show audiences what it’s all about.
“Many people will have fond memories of the film but the musical takes things to a whole different level with a host of Dolly Parton tracks that you’ll love to sing along to.
“The show is high-energy from start to finish and is the ultimate girl power musical so be sure to get your tickets fast.”
The show features original numbers from Dolly Parton’s Oscar, Tony and Grammy nominated score including Backwoods Barbie, Shine Like the Sun and the original hit song 9 to 5.
9 TO 5 THE MUSIC is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd on behalf of Musical Theatre International. The show is directed by Howard Raw, choreographed by Amy Appleton with musical director Dave Thomas.
Established in 1950, BFLOC is one of the longest running amateur musical theatre companies on the Fylde and in their time, have produced over 80 productions bringing together the best of local talent.
The company have performed at many of the town’s theatres over the years but feel their spiritual home is the Grand Theatre. They first performed at Grand in 1982 with Kings Rhapsody, after the theatre reopened having faced demolition, and have put a show on in the venue every year since.

In recent years BFLOC have received critical acclaim and boast a long list of awards for their shows. They have set the trend locally diversifying from classics such as 42nd Street and Oliver to put on a series of modern musicals including Sister Act, Hairspray and Legally Blonde, all of which were premiers for Blackpool.

9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL runs Wednesday May 31 to Saturday June 3 2017. Tickets are on sale now from £17.50 with family tickets at £60 from or 01253 290190.
